(v) What is lithosphere?

Answer:Lithosphere is the solid crust or the hard top layer of the earth. It is made up of rocks and minerals and covered by a thin layer of soil. It is an irregular surface with various landforms such as mountains, plateaus, plains,valleys, etc.

(vi) Which are the two major components of biotic environment?

Answer:The two major components of biotic environment are :-

  • Plants
  • Animals
(vii) What is biosphere?

Answer:Biosphere is a narrow zone of the Earth where land, water and air interact with each other to support life.

Answer:Man modifies his environment to fulfill his basic needs as it is increasing day by day. And to live a comfortable life. As the population is growing, human needs and desires are also growing. Man uses land for agriculture, builds industries to work, invents new things to make his life better and easier.

(ii) Plants and animals depend on each other.

Answer:All plants, animals and human beings depend on their immediate surroundings. Often they are also interdependent on each other.
Plants provide food, shelter and oxygen for animals to live. When animals die, they decompose and become natural fertilizer for plants.
Plants are dependent on animals for dispersal of seeds, pollination etc.
